Knitting sweaters can change the world
We are two best friends, Jen Parroccini and Elizabeth Margaret, who came together over our love of knitwear design and our dedication to mastering our craft.
We believe that being able to take part in the handmade clothing movement is a justice issue.
Whether you knit because your size or shape isn't served by stores, you want to live a more eco-conscious life, or to escape the exploitive labor practices of the fast-fashion industry — everyone deserves an opportunity to shape the world they want to live in.
Our goal is to make sure that every maker has the tools they need to clothe themselves in daily acts of art and political upheaval.
We sweat the fit so you don't have to
We're committed to "fit-first" design. That means that we're considering how patterns will actually wear on the body, grading for a full size range, and offering modifications in-pattern whenever it makes sense to do so. You'll get a great fit, right out of the box.
It's not just about patterns...
Patterns are only the first step in creating a sweater. We give you all the tools you need to make the garments you dream of wearing. We love designing, but the real change happens when you look under the hood with us.
Community
We host a free Slack community for makers interested in fit, fashion, mastery of craft, and overthrowing the patriarchy. Whether you're working on a One Wild pattern or something else, you're invited to join the party.
Broadcast
Our limited-run broadcast answers the questions you ask most frequently. You'll hear our thoughts on grading, knitting, photography, and design. Catch the One Wild Broadcast on YouTube and your favorite audio podcast platforms, and get ready to think about knitting in a new way!
Classes and coaching
Whether you're looking for an online group class to build your toolkit, or you want to book time to work through a problem with one of us, we would love to work with you. Learn more here.
About our values
Everyone deserves to be safe and to thrive. There are lots of ways to be a maker, and our world is personally the richest when we experience the thinking, art, and perspectives of as many people as possible. Ensuring the safety of our spaces is a critical part of our agreement with our community, and we enforce boundaries that keep us and our community safe.
Additionally, we recognize a personal responsibility to examine our behaviors and beliefs for ways that we unconsciously uphold supremacy, including white supremacy, ageism, sizeism, classism, and ableism. We are constantly evaluating and updating these beliefs and behaviors to ensure our community stays open and welcoming.
Our knitting patterns are meant for you to make your own. Pattern design is an act of team co-creation that involves contributions from the designer, rancher, dyer, editor, photographer, testers, and knitters! Only one of those roles is ours, but all roles are critical — we want to see the wonderful things you dream of, and we are here to help you make those dreams into reality.
So tell us, what will you knit with your one wild and precious life?
