Tori - the perfect base layer lace tank camisole knitting pattern

Tori is made for layering, although it’s so beautiful you may not want to cover it up! The breathable silk fiber and lace stitch wears well through all four seasons - as your favorite summer top or a winter base layer that is your special secret.

The Tori Tank features a deceptively simple all-over chevron lace pattern. She has a subtle scalloped edge, and is the perfect length to peek out under the bottom of the Mary Raglan, or your favorite hip length sweater. 

Construction

Tori is worked seamlessly in the round from the bottom up.

Your best fit

Choose the size closest to your actual upper chest measurement: 31 (34.25, 37.5, 40.75) [44, 47.25, 50.5] (53.75, 57, 59.25, 61.5) in / 78.5 (87, 95.5, 103.5) [112, 120, 128.5] (136.5, 145, 150.5, 156) cm

Upper chest is measured above the full bust, at an angle close to diagonal beneath the underarms, and straight across the back.

Tori is designed to fit with approximately 2 inches / 5 cm of positive ease at the full bust and the hip.

If you need additional room for the bust, working the optional short row shaping will give you the best fit in the shoulders and armholes, while still making room for your chest. Short rows add length to the front only of the garment, so that the hem does not rise in the front.

Elizabeth is wearing size 2, with 2 inches / 5 cm of positive ease at the full bust. Her upper chest is 34 inches / 85 cm.

Yarn

Sample shown in Purl Soho Cattail Silk

100% Mulberry silk; 618 yds / 565 m per 100 g skein. This is a hand-dyed, 3-ply fingering weight yarn. The final fabric has a light drape and a subtle shine.

Yardage (shown in Flower Field Gray): 606 (682, 757, 834) [909, 985, 1061] (1137, 1212, 1288, 1364) yds / 554 (624, 692, 763)[831, 901, 970] (1040, 1108, 1178, 1247) m;

If working the bust darts you will need an additional 15 yds - 120 yds / 14 - 110 m.

Gauge

25 sts and 41 rows over 4 inches / 10 cm in Chevron and Feather stitch with size B needles, worked both flat and in the round. 32 sets and 32 ends over 4 inches / 10 cm in 1x1 Rib with size C needles, worked in the round.
