Forest Finds - a crisp and elegant cardigan knitting pattern (with pockets!)

Forest Finds is for slowing down. Crisp stitches and structural details recall the littlest details of a woodland treasure hunt.

The Forest Finds cardigan is knit up in sport weight, offering layering versatility and cozy comfort. The diagonals and long lines of the design evoke all the branches, leaves and lamella of a harmonious autumn ramble. The unique construction is downright fun, and pockets adorn the front. Forest Finds is worked from the bottom up in pieces. The sides are seamed, but the rest is assembled with three-needle bind-off. The zipper is sewn in by hand, and modification notes are included for replacing the zipper with a button band.

Construction

Forest Finds is worked with a unique construction. Front centers, back center, and side panels are worked from the bottom up. Front side centers include pockets knit in-line. Side panels are joined to the front and back centers using a 3-needle bind-off.

Body and sleeves are seamed from the hems to the underarm, and a 3-needle bind-off is used to join the sleeves to the body. Stitches are picked up and knit for the hem, collar, and placket. The zipper is sewn in by hand. If you wish to replace the zipper with a button band, the appendix provides notes on how to make that modification.
