Hypatia Pullover
Hypatia Pullover
Hypatia - a puffed sleeve pullover sweater knitting pattern
Feel like yourself this Winter! Hypatia is a wardrobe staple with sassy femme flair to keep you both warm AND glamorous.
The Hypatia Pullover can be worked as a sweatshirt or a t-shirt, with options to crop the body and shorten the sleeves as you desire. The sleeves are shaped using short rows, and whip stitches are worked during finishing to create the delicate gathers. Tubular cast-ons and bind-offs mean the ribbing is polished and perfectly squishy without losing its shape. Hypatia is worked in the round from the bottom up, and then the front and back are worked flat and seamed at the shoulders.
Construction
Hypatia is knit seamlessly in the round from the bottom up with set-in sleeve construction. The body is knit in the round through the underarms, then the front and back are worked flat and seamed at the shoulders. The sleeves are picked up around the armhole. The cap is shaped with short rows and then the rest of the sleeve is worked in the round.
Optional Bust Shaping
Optional instructions for adding short rows for bust shaping, in three sizes, give you your best fit.

Your best fit
Choose the size closest to your actual upper chest measurement: 30 (34, 37.5, 41) [44, 48, 50.5] (54, 57, 60, 61.5) inches / 76 (86.5, 95.5, 104) [112, 122, 128.5] (137, 145, 152.5, 156) cm.
Upper chest is measured above the full bust, at an angle close to diagonal beneath the underarms, and straight across the back.
Hypatia is designed to fit with approximately 4 inches / 10 cm of positive ease at the fullest part of your bust.
If you need additional room for the bust, working the optional short row shaping will give you the best fit in the shoulders and armholes, while still making room for your chest. Short rows add length to the front only of the garment, so that the hem does not rise in the front.
Elizabeth is wearing size 2 with 4 inches / 10 cm of positive ease at the full bust. Her upper chest is 34 inches / 85 cm.
