Study Group - your intarsia pullover knitting pattern
Study Group features fresh colorblocking with vintage vibes, brought to you by easy intarsia. Not only that, the pattern includes modification notes for working it in a solid color, with tons of ways to personalize the design.
This pullover is designed to be worn as a shirt, so the underarm is not as deep as outer layer designs, making it ideal for layering under jackets and coats. Study Group is worked flat from the bottom-up and then seamed. The pattern includes multiple ways to customize both the fit and the intarsia design.
Construction
Study Group is worked flat from the bottom-up and then seamed. It has gentle hip shaping, optional bust darts, and tons of ways to make it your own. Stitches are picked up and knit for the collar.
Optional Bust Shaping
Optional instructions for adding short rows for bust shaping, in four sizes, give you your best fit.

Your best fit
Choose the size closest to your actual upper chest measurement: 27.75 (31.75, 35.75, 39.25) (42.25, 44.5, 47.5) (50.5, 53.5, 56.5) in / 69.5 (79.5, 89.5, 98) (105.5, 111.5, 119) (126.5, 134, 141.5) cm
Upper chest is measured above the full bust, at an angle close to diagonal beneath the underarms, and straight across the back.
Study Group is designed to fit with approximately 3 inches / 8 cm of positive ease at the fullest part of your bust. This pullover is designed to be worn as a shirt, so the underarm is not as deep as some of our other designs that are designed to be worn as outer layers. If you are between sizes, consider sizing up so that you have enough room under the arm. The schematic includes the total yoke depth so you can compare it to your body measurements.
If you need additional room for the bust, as Jen does, working the optional short row shaping will give you the best fit in the shoulders and armholes, while still making room for your chest. Short rows add length to the front only of the garment, so that the hem does not rise in the front.
Jen is wearing size 4, Cup 2, with 1 inch / 2.5 cm of positive ease at the full bust and 1 inch / 2.5 cm of positive ease at the upper arm. Her upper chest is 41.5 inches / 104 cm.
Courtney is wearing size 9, no cup shaping, Full Fit sleeves, with 6.75 inches / 17 cm of positive ease at the full bust and 1.75 inches / 4.5 cm of positive ease at the upper arm. Her upper chest is 52 inches / 130 cm.
